15th July 2017 at Cranberries Hideaway, Kilmington, Devon
Thank you so much for playing at our wedding on Saturday! We both thought you were fab and so did everyone else - including the Scots who were originally very sceptical at the mention of an English ceilidh band - so you must have been extra brilliant!
Thank you as well for putting up with our being behind schedule and our demanding list of dances. We saw people that we never expected to be ceilidhing joining in the dashing white sergeant and lots of people who had never been to a ceilidh remarked how much they had enjoyed it. So thank you for making our special day extra special, you are all wonderful musicians and have a fantastic caller!
Best wishes and many thanks,
Lucy and Peter
At Lucy and Peter's request, we provided a 4-piece line-up but with Clearwen on fiddle replacing our usual flute. Not a configuration we often deploy, but it worked well, and Ade was on top form, as usual, with the calling.

We're back from our trip away and just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to all of you guys for being so amazing at the wedding. We've had so many compliments about the barn dance and you were all lovely. Chris also did a great job of keeping me calm before the ceremony.
We provided music at three different times during Max and Rachel's wedding: Firstly, Nick Wyke and Chris Jewell both played fiddle at the beginning and end of the ceremony. They were then joined by Sue Eeles on flute for an acoustic set of folk music during the drinks, and then finally the rest of the band arrived to provide our 5-piece band and caller for the evening ceilidh.
24th June 2017 at Tresmeer Village Hall, Cornwall
Thank you so much for playing at our party on Saturday. We had a wonderful evening and everyone enjoyed the dancing, it was so funny to watch us all making so many mistakes! Many guests had never been to a ceilidh before and were won over completely by the great atmosphere. Couldn't have asked for anything better it was perfect 😊. Please thank the other members of the band and your very patient caller, we'll be recommending you to everyone!!
Our 4-piece band, with Ade Brayley calling, played for this joint birthday party in Tresmeer Village Hall. A very pleasant family party with all ages joining in the fun. Nice.
17th June 2017 at Sidmouth Harbour Hotel, Devon
Hello all you fabulous people at Sheer Hopody
Thank you so much for being such fabulous evening entertainment at our wedding on the 17th June. You created a fantastic atmosphere and really got people involved in the dancing and fun times! Thank you so much! We were complimented several times on how good you were!
We have been asked for our wedding to be featured in the next South West Bride magazine, so I hope you don’t mind if we put your name down as our fantastic evening entertainment!
With many thanks and gratitude
Our 5-piece band played for Lydia and Carl's wedding at this lovely seaside venue. Ade Brayley called the dances.
8th April 2017 at Jubilee Hall, Chagford, Devon
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Sheer Hopody for making my surprise 30th birthday ceilidh a huge success! My husband booked the band (knowing how fond I am of a good ceilidh) on the recommendation of a friend who is in a ceilidh band herself. Well, you not only got the party started, but got everyone up on their feet, kept us all amused with your brilliant sense of humour, and kept energy levels high with your fantastic musicianship. I've been to a fair number of ceilidhs in my time, but this one is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of dancing at! Can't thank you enough, you are such a lovely bunch!
Our 4-piece line-up with Nick Wyke calling and joining in on fiddle, played for this lovely surprise birthday party. Such an enthusastic crowd of dancers! All very good fun :-)
27th August 2016 at Whitemoor Farm, Bishop's Tawton, Devon
Please pass on our thanks to all the band for a great time on Saturday night. I don't think we had the best dancers in the world - but everyone loved the music.
Kind regards Rachel
Our 5-piece line-up (melodeon, flute, sax, guitar and bass), with Martin calling, proved yet again that a good English ceilidh is all about having fun!
6th August 2016 at Down Farm, Start Point, Devon
Just to say thank you for your great playing at our wedding on August 6th at Down Farm - we're sorry we didn't get a chance to speak to you much at the time - it was all such a whirlwind! Thanks for squeezing people onto our slightly oddly shaped dance floor; everyone had a great time.
Helen and Jamie
Chris Jewell on melodeon led our 5-piece line-up, with Ade Brayley calling. It all went very well; indeed, the laughter was in tents (well, two tipis actually). A very nice evening at a stunning location.
21st May 2016 at Ben's Barn, Lowton Farm, Bondleigh, Devon
Just a quick note to say thank you for last weekend at Lowton Farm. It was an absolute pleasure to have you there playing. It went down really well with nothing but good feedback for you.
Many thanks and best regards
SheerHopody 'Lite' played for a small group of enthusiastic dancers at Joe's 40th Birthday Party, with Richard on melodeon and Martin calling. The very nice rustic venue undoubtedly added a lot to the overall success of the evening.
21st November 2015 at Ottery St Mary Cricket Club, Devon
Thank you so much to you and the band for making my 50th Birthday party a memorable evening. Everyone commented on how much fun they had.
I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone.
Thank you again.
SheerHopody 'Lite' played for Christine's 50th Birthday Party. A pleasant party in a cosy venue.
1st August 2015 at Milton Dameral, Devon
Just a wee thank you for providing such great entertainment on Saturday. I really cannot thank you enough; both Karen and I are so pleased you were available to play at our wedding. We have had a lot of fantastic feedback and you really made the night very specially. I think everyone got involved at some point!
SheerHopody 'Lite' played for Adam and Karen's wedding celebration. Many of their friends were from north of the border and had a great time dancing to some of the Scottish classics as well as our usual fare of english ceilidh dances. Never fails.
25th July 2015 at South Allington House, South Allington, Devon
Just emailing to thank you for providing such great entertainment at our daughters wedding at South Allington 10 days ago. I think you could tell from the level of involvement that everyone had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed your music. Thank you again.
SheerHopody's 'Original' 4-piece ceilidh band played at this very nice venue right in the heart of the South Devon countryside. An excellent evening was had by all - especially by Martin, who was clearly enjoying calling for such a good crowd of fun people all keen to dance.
5th April 2015 at Woodbury Park Hotel, Woodbury, Devon
Hopody’s performance on 5th April at Woodbury Park was a wonderful finale to the perfect day for our daughter’s wedding.
Your music was superb – verdict of Bride (music graduate). The Reception Manager said the evening was one of the best she had known there. I’d like to hope they will be recommending Hopody to couples looking for family/all-age celebration. Your Caller had just the right touch to encourage everybody to join in and enjoy the fun.
It was such a good “do” that I almost wish we had another daughter to send off in such style – on second thoughts, I think perhaps...
Best Wishes to all the team,
SheerHopody 'Spice' played but with fiddle instead of sax (at the bride's request). It worked well.
31st January 2015 at Lympstone Village Hall, Lympstone, Devon
Dear Trevor, Nick and the other band members,
Thank you so much for making our Band Dance for Hospiscare such a resounding success. The feedback and thank you notes I have received have all been so positive and we raised a magnificent amount of money for such a good cause.
I would be grateful if you could pass my thanks onto your band members. Nick was amazing and it was wonderful to see every single person dancing (at one point all up together!)
With many thanks,
SheerHopody 'Lite' played with Nick Wyke calling and joining in on fiddle. It all went very well :-)
10th January 2015 at St. Matthew's Hall, Exeter, Devon
Dear Trevor and the band,
Thank you for a fantastic evening!
We loved all the music – it always was going to be good, we could tell – but thank you too for ‘tuning-in’ to our group and being part of the celebration.
Very best wishes
Derek and Penny
The SheerHopody 'Original' line-up played for a very eager crowd at this birthday party in Exeter. Martin Hodge called the dances as usual.
31st October 2014 at West Ogwell, Newton Abbot, Devon
Just like to say a big thank you to Sheer Hopody for making my Halloween Party a really special event. Lots of people have said how good you were and how well you fitted in with the Halloween theme in fact several people said it was the best party they had ever been to! How will we be able to top it?
Many thanks you were absolutely brilliant, much appreciated by all FOUR generations.
We were unable to supply the 4-piece line-up requested so provided the 3-piece with Nick Wyke calling and playing fiddle. This was the first time we've ever done a Hallowe'en party. Nick really got into the spirit of it - so much so that I suspect we may be doing one of these again at some point!
11th October 2014 at New Barton Barn, Wembury, Devon
I would like to thank Sheer Hopody for another fantastic evening. The atmosphere was excellent and I heard nothing but praise for your efforts. You certainly created an unbelievable atmosphere and memories that will not be forgotten.
We had previously played at Harry's wedding to Julie back in April 2010. Always a pleasure to be asked back.
5th September 2014 at Hestercombe Gardens, Taunton, Somerset
Just a quick note to say thank you very much, to you and the whole band, for you playing on the 5th.
The whole day and evening went perfectly from our point of view and your contribution to that is really appreciated. The music and calling were both great, lots of people were dancing and everyone was having a good time - all in all just what we hoped for.
Many thanks and best wishes for the future.
Henry & Helen
Henry and Helen booked the full SheerHopody Crème to play at their wedding at the wonderful Hestercombe Gardens. Very nice.

You really made our birthdays!
This was a joint 40th/70th birthday party for Lisa and Pat with dancing to SheerHopody Spice with Martin calling as usual. The new Holsworthy Memorial Hall was an excellent venue for what was an excellent evening of dancing.

Dear Sheer Hopody,
A massive thank you for playing at our wedding. You were brilliant. People we thought would never dance were taking part with massive smiles on their faces.
We both had the most magical day which we shall remember for the rest of our lives so thank you for making it such a special evening.
Love from Sophie and Hayden
For their wedding reception, Sophie and Hayden booked SheerHopody Crème Delight with Nick Wyke calling and playing fiddle along with the five other musicians in the band. I must say, I think we enjoyed it just as much as their guests!
29th March 2014 at Bicton College, East Budleigh, Devon
Hi Trevor and the rest of the band
Just wanted to say thanks v much for doing a great job with the ceilidh at our wedding. Lots of people commented about how good you were and even those who don't usually dance were persuaded to take part!
Catherine and Christopher booked SheerHopody Spice for their wedding celebration. We had played for Catherine's sister's wedding on 20th June 2009 at The Knowle, Sidmouth. (see previous testimonials) so they knew we would go down well with their guests.
